Why I Give, by Molly McCluskey

Levé’s Board Member and Events Co-Chair, Molly McCluskey, shares what inspires her to give back to her community.

Inspiration. Leadership. Community. Heart. In a world that sometimes feels as if it’s one bad piece of news after another, it’s up to us to take action and try to make it a little brighter. For me, I found that my way of doing this was to give back to others. Over the years, I’ve discovered that volunteering is two-fold. The obvious: it allows me to provide for my greater community, but also - it allows me to be a part of something bigger than myself.

Becoming a member of Levé in 2016, I knew that it was something different, something special, something powerful. Levé was the first all female ran nonprofit that I have ever been a part of and it has allowed me to see the inner workings of beautiful, intelligent, and giving young professionals. In a society taken over by social media and our children comparing themselves to those in an Instagram photo, it was a breath of fresh air feeling as if as a collective group, we could make a dent in changing this. Being a part of Levé allows us, as women, to be role models and to empower others.

I give to inspire others and to make a positive reflection in the community. Giving doesn’t mean you have to go out and try to change the world. Those close to you may need it more than you know - your community, your town, your network. When you start small, big things can happen. I fully believe in the act of paying it forward and the power that brings. Find your passion, count your blessings and return the favor. By just doing that, my hope is that others will inspire to do the same. There is always someone that has it harder than you do. I encourage you to find your “why” and use it in a positive, meaningful matter. You never know whose life you might touch or who might just follow in your steps. I give because we all need a little more love in this world.
