Posted on September 15th, 2010 Salmon street and 2nd was popping this past Sunday in celebration of CCA’s 15th birthday! 15 is a pretty monumental year for any of us (…you mean they’re going to let me and my leadfoot behind the wheel Dad?) but what a testament to the incredible joy CCA has introduced to the lives of these undoubtedly brave children. The event itself could have knocked the socks off of any carnival coast to coast. Each child (and any parents looking for a little flare) received free professional face-painting and balloon accessories…and then were let loose to decorate their own cupcake, take goofy pictures in the photobooth, get into the craft zone and make one-of-a-kind take home art, or take a chance at baked goods in the fan favorite Cake Walk. Some of us Levé ladies were able to witness the smiles from ear to ear as we volunteered at the event. We also got to meet CCA’s 2010 Community Heroes, which are an exceptional group of 25 children and teens who represent the thousands battling life-threatening illnesses with strength, grace and character. They unveiled their “Wall of Courage,” a traveling display that features remarkable photographs and information about each honoree….and released white doves in their honor.
Congratulations to this years’ heroes: Jacob, Daniel, John, Nirvana, Bryten, Spencer, Josanna, Sakia, Fabian, Myles, Cynthia, Danny, Hayley, John, Abram, Angelina, Jaya, Shelby, Ella, Machai, Frida, Levi, Mason, Lilli and Chloe…..you have warmed the hearts of many.
Enjoy some pics from the day!
